A disaster has befallen the people of Ntungamo District after a former Senior Four student of Kagamba Secondary School committed suicide for scoring poor grades in the 2016 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.

Equasophat Sekyondwa, a 23 year old scored aggregate 68, in the UCE released last Tuesday and could not take in the news.

According to his elder brother, Mr Willing Kayunga the deceased went to receive results from school on Wednesday but did not share them with any of the family members, in the evening, he reportedly closed himself up in his room and took poison.

He would later be rushed to Divine Clinic in Rwashamaire Town on Wednesday night where he died on Thursday afternoon.

According to the deceased’s friend Rogers Tumusiime, the late was a very straight forward man who could do anything for success.

Sekyondwa’s mother Ms Lovence Kiwanuka, says her son finished exams and started looking for jobs. At the time of his demise, the young man was working as a porter at Rwashamaire Health Centre IV.

Mr Patrick Kamugisha, the headmaster Kagamba Secondary School said the deceased had failed his mock exams and it was no surprise that Sekyondwa performed that poorly.
