Our nation is experiencing a heinous and paradoxical tragedy, and it can and must be halted. The tragedy is the actions taken by one of Uganda's most celebrated music icons, a singer with a big fan base and follow up by men, women and children of this country.

The paradox is that this terrible toll could rise – sharply – at the very time resources to reduce it through raising awareness and protecting women have been augmented. We must all take more responsibility. We must rise up to collectively help cease the scourge; it is an unacceptable and utterly unnecessary blot on our land.

Bebe Cool Fights A Woman In Club Liquid Silk & Nearly Kills Her — Reason, Eddy Kenzo!

Over the past years, women like Miria Matembe — a strong proponent for and an advocate of women’s rights in Uganda for over two decades since 1989 — have fought to create a safe Nation free of Violence Against Women (VAW) and girls. But it's so sad that we can ignore all that struggle and still embrace the act of beating up women and feel proud about it while defending the perps.

Whether in the home or elsewhere, physical or psychological violence against women is something that can happen to any woman, regardless of her age, ethnicity or wealth.

Eddy Kenzo Attacks Bebe Cool For Beating His Fan And Calls Him Backward!

It's so disturbing when a popular icon in the music industry becomes the perpetrator of a heinous crime and significant human rights issue that Women have been fighting to stop over the past years.

Zuena's defense for Bebe Cool's crime has driven a lot of anger in women who say she shouldn't have, considering she's also a woman – but instead should have asked her husband to apologize.

One of the women on Facebook was kind enough to write a small letter to Bebe Cool — we find it more reasonable, so here it is;

"I can't see any reason as to why a thinking man would fight a woman.
Bro Bebe if you did this then your taking us back to the 1800's dude. You're an icon, teach your son Alpha what's good not beating up women. Did Mr. Bidandi ever beat your mama?!!!"

Violence Against Women and Girls is a grave violation of human rights, we shouldn't think otherwise!
