Musician Sheebah Karungi formally appeared before the detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal investigations on Tuesday and exonerated popular journalist Andrew Mwenda.
Sheebah, who interacted with the CID officers revealed the details of the person who attempted to rape her.
She confirmed Andrew Mwenda has never touched her private parts.
“In her complaint, she mentions the suspect and refutes the ongoing speculation in sections of the media that it was Andrew Mwenda. Given the above, a team of detectives has commenced investigations in the matter to ensure justice for the victim,” Police spokesperson Enanga said.
“We do thank Sheebah for taking the courage to report the matter and we assure the public that as Uganda Police, we take matters of gender-based violence seriously,” he added.
Last week, the popular singer publicly accused a prominent person who is guarded by SFC of trying to sexually assault her.
The social media 'lawyers' were quick to point fingers at Andrew Mwenda, who vehemently denied any links to the singer.
