Artiste Maurice Kirya joined the race to become the next president of the Uganda Musicians Association after fellow singer Bebe Cool pleaded with him to join the race.

On Saturday, the Gagamel boss explained that Maurice Kirya is capable of steering the association in the right direction. He is well educated and carries all the attributes of a visionary leader.

"I always mind several things when choosing a leader. I choose my brother, Maurice Kirya for UMA president.
He is educated, disciplined, has good conduct, experience, approachable, open-minded, welcoming, always listens, 'taba muntalotalo', exposure, age, and the ability to unite both those who like and don’t like you.
Dear brother, I with due respect request you to accept my proposal for you to be the new UMA president because am sure so many artists in Uganda will agree with me on this," he posted.

The "nze ani" hitmaker later accepted the proposal saying he is ready to lead the association.

"I am able and willing to receive the honour to join my brothers and sisters in the race for the next UMA president, to unite, develop, and better the music industry," he wrote.

The elections are taking place on Monday, 11th April at the National theatre.
