Local promoter Abbey Musinguzi aka Abitex was detained on Wednesday at Nateete police station and taken to jail for failure to pay UGX 114 million from three people including the DPC of Katwe police station.
The promoter was arrested at Pope Paul’s memorial Ndeeba while attending a meeting with other three promoters as they were preparing for the upcoming football match of sub counties in Buganda that is to take place on Saturday at Namboole stadium.
As his people tried to bail him out, it was impossible after one of the complainants threatened to hurt him if he is released on police bond thus spending the night in jail.
His case was registered under file SD REF: 48/17/08/2016.
