Relived Stella Nyanzi Reflects On Time In Prison

Feminist and Makerere University lecturer Dr. Stella Nyanzi who among others was arrested after defying a Court order against holding prayers at the FDC offices, would later learn that prison isn’t a picnic.

Feeling lucky and relieved, Dr. Stella upon release took to social media to share the traumatizing moments she faced while in the slammer.

She wrote;

I spent the night on the floor of a tiny dark smelly horrible police cell with thirteen other women. I will be writing about my experiences of the shocking horror facing women suspects locked up in Katwe Police Station, for a long time.

We were arraigned in court this afternoon, got released on bail and I am lucky to be sleeping in my huge soft bed at home, after a deep long warm bath.
