Uganda’s number one breakfast show, the “morning Saga” that airs on 100.2 Galaxy fm has launched a campaign to help six children in Mukono who were abandoned by their father, after their mother perished in a motor accident.

The drive comes days after the unfortunate incident featured on the NTV News “NTV Akawungeezi” leaving many people in tears.

The six children are taking care of themselves with the eldest Rebecca Bukirwa being 10 years while the youngest is 7 months old. They were abandoned by their father late last year in a dilapidated house in Kilamira Mukono just after their mother Rosemary Nabulime’s death.

They have since taken care of themselves with the help of good Samaritans who give them food, and the Head mistress of their Nambale church of Uganda Primary school, where Rebecca studies in P.2.

Rebecca is followed by Scovia Namawejje 7 years, Ibrahim Katumba 6 years, Sarah Namagembe 4 years, Smart Mawejje 1 year, and Mega Kirabo 7 months.

Rebecca narrates that she usually prepares posho for her siblings to eat and after, bathes them before taking them to bed. The door to their house was also knocked down by thieves, yet they stay all alone in the empty unfinished home. Bukirwa carries all her siblings to school daily, since there is no one to take care of them at home. According to the kids’ uncle, their father went to some landing sites where he is working.

Now, the morning saga has kicked off a campaign dubbed “Help Bukirwa and siblings” to help the children with food, clothing, a new door and more essential materials needed to help them grow up in a better environment.

So far a number of kind hearted people have contributed via Airtel money on a registered number, 0755515821, while material things and cash can also be dropped at the Galaxy fm offices in Kansanga at plot 249 Ggaba Road.

The materials needed include; sugar, clothes, salt, essential food stuffs. You are all called upon to support the cause and help these unfortunate little ones.
