KAMPALA, JUNE 2, 2016: Business people under Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), today welcomed the opening of a retail experience store on Luwum Street by Vodafone Uganda, a provider of 4G-LTE high-speed broadband data services.

The Luwum street store brings the number of Vodafone Uganda’s stores to seven (7) in addition to seventy five (75) dealer outlets and more than two thousand five hundred (2,500) indirect retailers in Kampala & Entebbe.

Speaking at the opening of the store, Mr. Allan Richardson, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Uganda, said the development is in line with Vodafone Uganda’s commitment to taking its reliable telecommunication services closer to its customers, wherever they may be.  

“It is no coincidence that we have set up shop here. Today, we open this store to enable our business customers have reliable business solutions within arm’s reach. At this center our business customers can be rest assured they will not only get the services they need to reduce the cost of doing business and enable you to grow but also have a dedicated agent to support them and offer advice on most suitable solutions that will promote business efficiency,” he said. 

The Luwum street store has been specifically designed with the business customers in mind. One of the key features is the knowledge bar on the upper floor where customers can go for weekly tutorials and training sessions on a range of technology related issues to help them get the best out of technology for their business.

Spokesperson of Kampala City Traders Association, (KACITA), Mr. Issa Sekitto, who officiated at the opening of the store, congratulated Vodafone Uganda upon the new milestone and pledged support to them.

“While the telecommunication sector is more advanced than it was five years ago, traders still face challenges in staying connected with their customers, suppliers and partners due to unreliable connections and dropped calls from their service providers. We are pleased that Vodafone has decided to bring its services to our doorsteps because we know you for very fast, and reliable internet connection. On behalf of our over 700 KACITA members, I do pledge our full support to your business,” Sekitto said.

Vodafone Uganda recently opened a dealer outlet at Gazaland, in downtown Kampala in related effort to take its services closer to traders and the business community.

Mr. Richardson also revealed that as part of growing its distribution network, Vodafone now has partnership agreements with PayWay, New Pay, Yo Uganda, Interswitch, Pebuu, UgMart and True African to enable its customers’ access airtime and data electronically. With this development, Vodafone customers can now buy airtime and data at over 1500 partners’ locations.

Only last month, the company improved its coverage in the areas of Bukasa, Kyambogo, lower Kololo near Lugogo bypass, Naguru and Mbuya, enabling its customers in these areas and the environs access the best of the Vodafone 4G experience for browsing, downloads, streaming.
