One officer was killed and 8 guns stolen when unknown gun men raided an army base located in Opit Gulu district in the wee hours of Friday.
An eye witness Richard Odongkara told the press that the raid happened at 03:00am amid an exchange of gunfire between gunmen and 2 soldiers who were manning security at the quarters.
According to Odongkara, the UPDF soldier was killed during the process of repulsing the attackers, who would later flee to the nearby forest reserve.
The development was confirmed by Lt. Ahmad Hassan Kato, the UPDF 4th Division army spokesperson who also explains that investigations are ongoing.
