Police have arrested a clan chief in Dokolo district for murder.

It is alleged that on 24th November at around 10pm, one of the residents in Akubala village identified as Ato Dorcus reported her husband identified as Okunya Martin, 44 years for assaulting her that night.

According to CP Fred Enanga, the clan leader identified as Obiya Moses 49 years, instructed three members of his clan including a one Thomas, Okello Digida, and Aboyi Achobe to arrest the woman’s husband.

Upon arrest, Obiya ordered them to cane Martin and there after confined him in one of the rooms at the clan elder’s home. 

However, the next morning, they noticed that the man was weak and instead of rushing him to the hospital, decided to carry him back to his home, where they abandoned him.
He died at around 2pm on 25th November.

Enanga says they managed to arrest Obiya Moses and officers are currently pursuing the other three suspects for murder.

He cautioned clan leaders against caning members of the community because this contravenes with the laws of the country.
