A total of 98,394 candidates have Monday morning begun writing their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, UACE examination at 2,339 Examination Centres across the country. 58.1% of the candidates are boys while 41.8% are girls.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board-UNEB officials, they together with school heads are grateful that the exercise kicked off without any interruptions caused by the weather.

During the recently concluded Primary Leaving Examinations-PLE, most pupils especially in rural areas faced difficulties accessing schools due to the heavy downpour on day one.

Now, UNEB spokesperson Jennifer Kalule Musamba says they expect all examinations to start on time since the weather is perfect for both movement of examination papers from stores and students especially day scholars from home to schools.

"Today we see the weather in Kampala is favourable. We expect all examinations to start on time and do not foresee any delays" Kalule said this morning.
The examination cycle was expected to kick off at 9:00 am with History and Mathematics.

Despite the good weather, some teachers said they were worried about potential delays that might result from traffic jam in Kampala.
