The Gulu Grade One Magistrate, Vian Kwezira has remanded two brothers from Omoro district for gang-raping their 26-year-old sister in law.

The accused are Patrick Olwoch and Sam Kidega both residents of Odek Sub County in Omoro district.
Prosecution told court that the duo while at Omunyjobi village in Orapwoyo Sub County in Omoro district, on January 21st, 2021 at around 10 am, found the victim on her way to the garden where she was going to harvest sorghum and offered some help.

But upon arrival in the garden, Olwoch reportedly grabbed the knife the victim was using to reap sorghum and used it to threaten her while accusing her of soiling their names in the community. They then wrestled her to the ground while squeezing her neck and took turns to rape her until she became unconscious.

She would later report the incident leading to the arrest of the suspects, who were charged with rape.

The magistrate didn???t allow them to plead to the charges since they are facing a capital offence.

Kwizera remanded the duo to Gulu Central Prison until March 17th, 2021 when they will appear in court for the mention of their case.
