President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that rogue officers from the Uganda Police Force shot and killed Ugandan boxer Zebra Ssenyange, moments before their meeting.
During his end of year speech on Thursday December 31st 2020, President Museveni said he had a scheduled meeting with Zebra because he was an NRM supporter who had done a lot for the party.
“When I heard of the death of Isaac Ssenyange lias Mando Zebra, a former Bombers Captain, I telephoned his wife and she narrated to me the events. Zebra was meant to meet me, he was an NRM supporter who was doing so much for us” the President said.
Gen. Museveni added that after making some inquiries, he found out that indeed, the boxer was killed by people wearing Uganda Police Force Uniform.
He promised to ensure that Zebra’s killers face consequences for their actions.
“I specifically decided to take on his case and I have so far found out he was killed by security personnel. I am very sorry, so sorry about this. I will bring my entire findings to the knowledge of the family. I am very sorry” Gen. Museveni said.
According to Police, unidentified men wearing hoodies picked Zebra from his house in St. Francis Zone, Bwaise III Parish at around 1am on 30th December 2020 and shot him just 400 metres away from his house.
