Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) mortuary in Mulago has six unclaimed bodies killed during the city riots following the arrest of NUP presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) mortuary in Mulago has six unclaimed bodies killed during the city riots following the arrest of NUP presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert.

Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, the Police Pathologist said on Friday morning that they received 37 bodies, but 6 are still unclaimed. Two of the unclaimed deceased are women and they plan on keeping them for as long as they can, for their relatives to turn up and claim them.

According to Dr. Byaruhanga, most of the bodies had injuries arising from firearms, stampede and traumatic accidents although he adds they are still analyzing to come up with a comprehensive report for what could have been the cause of death for each. 

He added that so far, their photographs have been taken and samples collected for possible DNA analysis in case it is required.

Relatives and friends of the deceased are picking bodies at City Mortuary.

One of the bereaved members Benon Nkwasibwe from Kajaara Rwashamire in Ntungamo district and an uncle to Sadam Mwebesa says that his nephew was shot in Wednesday while vending his merchandise.

Mwebesa hired a Boda Boda rider take him back to his home in Bwaise but was allegedly shot dead by a police officer.
