Man burnt to ashes in Namugongo

One person has been burnt to ashes in a kiosk at Namugongo. The deceased is Emmanuel Bahati, 28, a casual laborer and resident of the area.

One person has been burnt to ashes in a kiosk at Namugongo. The deceased is Emmanuel Bahati, 28, a casual laborer and resident of the area.

Luke Owoyesigyire the deputy Police Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan area says the Kira Division Police Commander received a call at around 1:00am this morning with information that there was fire outbreak at a drinking and pork joint, Kigambo, opposite the Catholic Shrine at Namugongo in Kira Municipality Wakiso District.

Fire Brigade arrived at the scene and put out the fire and Kira Police Division Scene of Crime team visited the area and combed the spot and found Bahati’s body had been burnt to ashes.

The deceased roasted pork at the same area and is believed to have been asleep at the time the kiosk caught fire.

The body was taken to city mortuary Mulago for postmortem. The cause of fire is not yet established. Meanwhile, 5 other kiosks were burnt to ashes. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
