New members of the Police Council have today been sworn in during the Police Council Meeting at Police Headquarters Naguru. 

These include the Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj.Gen Sabiiti Muzeeyi, the Joint Chief of Staff AIGP brig Jack Bakasumba, AIGP Goloba Godfrey the Director HRD, AIGP Jesse Kamunanwire the Director HRA and Col Chris Damulira, director Crime Intelligence among others.

The new members were sworn in during the opening ceremony of the 25th Police Council Meeting at Police Headquarters Naguru. The event was facilitated by the Inspector General of Police J.M Okoth Ochola.

The meeting is running under the theme " "Strengthening our achievements and finding solutions to policing challenges to guarantee public safety.” President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be a guest at the event as it enters day two, tomorrow Tuesday.

The Inspector General of Police, John Martins Okoth Ochola presided over the event on behalf of Internal Affairs Minister, Gen Jeje Odongo.

According to Police, the council’s major roles include deliberating matters related to police force and its personnel, issues arising out of police officers’ unprofessionalism or misconduct, observance of human rights and policing challenges in regard to crime trends.

34 other officers ranging from the ranks of Commissioner of Police –CP to Sergeants –Sgt were also sworn in to fill gaps of officers who have retired or died since the 24th council meeting which was in February 2018.

In his remarks, IGP Ochola reminded all officers sworn in to always protect whatever is deliberated in Police Council but also to ensure that concerns of their colleagues are always efficiently presented.
