Police in Luuka District has in custody two employees of Mpakibi investments for locking Irongo Health Centre III. 

The duo is identified as Juma Waiswa and Halidi Muzata and was arrested on Monday and detained at Nakabugu police station. 

According to available information, Mpakibi Investments was contracted by Luuka district local government to rehabilitate the maternity ward and outpatient department but were never paid the fully agreed amount of money. Only 4 million shillings paid and the company is still demanding 12 million shillings. 

The company’s Director Abdullah Mpakibi says rehabilitation of the health centre was completed in December last year and handed over to the district authorities, however they were never paid.

Nsubuga Zirimenya the Chief Administrative Officer Luuka,says that the contractors will be paid towards the end of this year.

According to the District Police Commander, John Bosco Serunjogi, the suspects are facing charges of trespass and will be taken to court before the end of this year. The health centre was later opened with the help of the police.
