The Police in Masaka have opened investigations into circumstances under which a convicted inmate from Kyannamukaaka Prisons raped a minor.

The suspect, 26-year-old Edward Kiyembaa was convicted for theft and is currently serving a two- year jail term at Kyannamukaaka Prisons.

He is however, accused of raping a 13-year-old girl he found at her parent’s home in Kyannamukaaka trading center during his temporary freedom.

According to Paul Kangavve the Greater Masaka Regional Police spokesperson, the suspect raided his victim’s residence when he was sent to the neighboring shops.

The minor was subjected to a medical examination, which confirmed that she was indeed sexually assaulted and they have now placed their request to the prison authorities to produce the suspect for prosecution.
