Court in Entebbe has charged two officials of the Middle East Consultants with human trafficking offences.

The duo, Godfrey Kyalimpa, aged 48 years and Benon Kunywana, 36 years old, appeared before Magistrate Fiona Birungi and were charged with 4 counts of trafficking 50 Ugandans and uttering a forged document.

The two officials pleaded not guilty to all the offences. Prosecution led by Jean Nareeba told Court that on 12th February 2019, the duo attempted to traffic 50 Ugandans through Entebbe International Airport.

Prosecution further told Court that the accused persons presented a forged letter purporting to have been signed by Lawrence Egulu of the Ministry of Labor. They were charged for presenting forged immigration documents in respect to exporting Ugandans allegedly for employment.

Birungi denied them bail because the case files have not been allocated. She remanded them to Luzira until the 11th of September 2019 for mention and hearing the bail applications.
