Members of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) who are dissatisfied should feel free to quit the party if they do not like the direction the party is taking.

The warning was sounded by hon. Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda the Opposition Chief Whip and Party Spokesperson of FDC while  responding to questions in regards to some of the FDC members abandoning party activities and turning to the Alliance for National Transformation party under the leadership of former FDC president Mugisha Muntu and People Power, a pressure group led by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi.

During a tweet chat organized on Wednesday by Parliament at the Leader of Opposition’s boardroom, Hon. Nganda said the party sees no problem when members quit. Adding that the important thing is that FDC will continue with its activities despite the movement of people.

According to Ssemujju, the party is starting on massive recruitment of new members, and although they can’t stop anyone from leaving the party, they will endeavor to keep their current members.

He argues that the party has overcome the conflict that had fractured the party between Mugisha Muntu and Opposition Leader Kiiza Besigye.

The development comes after several FDC members expressed concern at the direction that the party is taking and have vowed to quit the party if issues are not resolved.
