AIP George Kyuka, the officer in charge of Kyenzige Police station in Kyaterekera sub county Kagadi district is in custody for allegedly raping a female suspect.

The Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza, told says Kyukais being detained at Kagadi Central Police Station following his arrest on March 15th, 2019.

According to Hakiza, trouble for Kyaku started on March 12th, when he arrested an 18-year-old woman whose names have been concealed on allegations of abandoning her one-year-old child. The woman was detained at Kyenzige Police station.

But, the officer on the night of March 13, 2019 picked the female suspect from custody and took her to his room where he allegedly raped her. He reportedly convinced the woman that he would help release her from custody.

However, the female suspect on March 15, 2019, filed a rape case against the police officer leading to his arrest. Police has since launched investigations into the matter while the suspect is still being detained at Kagadi central police station.

Hakiza says the suspect’s file has already been forwarded to the resident State Attorney for perusal and sanctioning and if found guilty the officer will be produced before court to be charged with rape
