Uganda has intensified the screening and monitoring process for passengers traveling into the country through Entebbe International Airport and other border Entry Points.

On Sunday, the health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng visited the airport to ensure screening was going well, and said she was impressed with the health workers undertaking screening and that the lanes are clearly marked according to the different categories.

According to the minister, Uganda was forced to deport 22 foreigners who arrived from the Category 1 countries for the Uganda-EU Business forum on Saturday. According to the minister, the foreigners refused to adhere to the procedure of 14 days self-quarantine.

“We informed them about our procedure of self-quarantine for 14 days. However, they were not willing to undergo this self-quarantine. Today they will return to their home countries. I want to reiterate that Uganda has NO confirmed or suspected case of COVID 19” Minister Aceng said.

It remains unclear though, if the 22 persons were allowed mix and interact with locals in the one day they spent here.

The minister further appreciated the health workers for their efforts in ensuring that Uganda is safe from CoronaVirus.
