Mercy is a talented artist from the Dinka community of South Sudan. She is currently riding high with the single “Anavyonifanya”. The song has been produced by super talented producer “Herbalist” under the mentorship of Kevin Wyre.  Mercy describes her music as an urban sound fused with Zouk and some jazzy touch.

CAREER

Mercy’s musical career began at a young age singing in the church choir and at school.  From then on, her career has been on an upward scale and has seen her perform alongside artistes other established artistes. Mercy has also been privileged to perform at the World Refugee Day, 16 Days of Activism among other festivals. Her influence and inspiration comes from Maurice Kirya and Irene Namubiru from Uganda whose music she describes as nostalgic and soothing to her ear.

MUSIC INTERESTS

With a growing audience, the multi-talented artiste has cemented her name in the industry through involvement in women empowerment, and helping underprivileged schools within the refugee camps.  She is currently in the studio recording songs off her first Album; the album will be released in 2018 and will include collaborations with other artistes. 

BACKGROUND

Mercy Akuot was born in South Sudan she spent part of her childhood between South Sudan and Uganda where her passion for music was realized. Due to the conflict in South Sudan Mercy and her family were forced to flee their country to Kenya. Mercy believes that being a refugee is a status that can change any time and does not let that limit her in conquering her musical journey.
