Cleopatra Koheirwe Biography

Cleopatra is a dynamic Ugandan singer-songwriter who is passionate about what she does and just like her name, is quite intriguing. She defines her music as soulful eclectic pop and her style infuses a dash of various genres to create a refreshing sound that her fans love. As a songwriter, she draws inspiration from life experiences and her music reflects her emotive, personal yet captivating side.

From an early age, Cleopatra loved to entertain and perform. Her mother named her Cleopatra after the film character, Cleopatra Jones. Despite being orphaned as a child, she pursued her love for music, the arts and drama with dedication and passion.

She began dancing, singing and acting professionally for audiences in East Africa in 2001, when she joined renowned girl band, Obsessions Africa. She performed extensively with the group at concerts and corporate functions within East Africa until 2007 when she resigned from the group to pursue further interests in acting and media.

Cleopatra Koheirwe is an actress, known for The Last King of Scotland (2006) and Yogera (2011).

In 2010, she began her solo music career with her debut single `Ngamba` (Luganda for `tell me`), an afro-pop tune which talks about deceptive relationships. The song was well received in the Ugandan music scene. In April 2012, she released her second single, Party on my Mind, an electro-house track. As a solo artist, she has put up impressive performances notably at the Uganda Buzz Teeniez Awards 2011, Pablo`s Comedy Show, City Beat Magazine Party among others. With 12 years experience in the entertainment industry, she has harnessed her talent and shares it with the world.

Cleopatra`s vision is to touch the hearts of many through her art and inspire people especially the youth. With her influence and popularity in Uganda, she has teamed up with various non-profit organizations such as the Unlock Foundation and the Reach a Hand Uganda (RAHU), to mentor and inspire the youth. She travels widely around Uganda speaking to the youth in schools, sharing her life journey and providing encouragement.

Towards the end of 2011, she was signed to Cypher Studios and is currently in studio recording her first solo album. She is definitely an African talent to keep an eye on lest you miss out on something spectacular.
