The Inspectorate of Government-IG has directed the immediate interdiction of the Fort portal city clerk Moses Otimong following the ongoing investigations into the allegations of abuse of office and mismanagement of public funds.

In a letter dated October 27th, 2022 addressed to the Permanent Secretary, the IG says that they have established prima facie against  Otimong and his continued stay in office amidst the ongoing investigations is likely to affect its progress.

“The public interest demands that while investigations into his conduct are ongoing he should be interdicted from exercising the powers and functions of his office. You are therefore hereby directed to immediately interdict the above-named official without any further delay,” the letter reads partly.

According to Edson Ruyonga the Mayor of Fort portal city, his office has also received a copy of the letter from the Inspectorate of Government and they are waiting for new instructions from the permanent secretary.
