Former Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba has died in Tanzania.

The former Vipers and Bright Stars head coach is said to have checked into hospital after he felt unwell yesterday, accompanied by fellow Ugandan coach, Matia Lule where he received treatment and returned home.

He is said to have continued feeling until this morning, prompting him to return to hospital, where he has succumbed to a yet to be identified illness.

Veteran sports journalist Reuben Ruyombo has spoken to Coach Lule about the late Kajoba’s last moments

Coach Kajoba  started feeling unwell yesterday and told coach Matia that they should go to Hospital, so they went and they had thorough check, he was examined and was given some medicine and he was told hes good to go back home, putting in consideration that they  had a game today after leaving his home at 10pm, so in the morning he told coach Matia that he was not feeling well again, he escorted him and came back for the game and immediately after the game he was called to go back to the hospital and by the time he was getting near Kajoba is he had lost it already.” Ruyombo said.

He leaves a legacy as the man that groomed former Uganda Cranes and Mamelodi Sundown’s goalkeeper, Denis Masinde Onyango.

He was also the goalkeeping Coach when Uganda Cranes ended the 38- year wait without participating in the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

In the evening of his career, Kabob joined longtime friend Moses Basena at Tanzania’s Ihefu SC, where he served as the goalkeeping and assistant coach.

Details about the cause of his death and burial arrangements are yet to be released
